Eminent actor, Television persona, Ekushey Padak -2015 Winner, Abu Taher Mohammad Shamsuzzaman,popularly known as ATM Shamsuzzaman, passed away at his own residence at city�s Sutrapur area early this morning.
He was 80. The veteran actor was suffering from old-age complications for a long time, family sources said.
Earlier, on February 17, he was admitted to a city hospital due to breathing difficulty. He returned home from the hospital on Friday.
According to family sources, his first namaj-e-janaza will be held after Zohr Prayers.
Born on 10 September, 1941 in Noakhali�s Daulatpur, ATM Shamsuzzaman made his debut in the media as an assistant director in 1961, with the film �Bishkonya�.
The actor, director and screen-playwright were awarded with prestigious Bangladesh National Film award five times for his outstanding performance.
